Specialists in Pitch Pine

Unlike most other suppliers of reclaimed timber we can kiln-dry all the timber we supply.

In our opinion, proper kilning is vital. Its effect is to dry timber to the moisture content of the surroundings in which it is to be placed so as to eliminate shrinking and swelling when it is put to use.

Kiln-drying, as opposed to air drying is much more reliable and precise because the drying temperature can be controlled. Remember that buildings from which beams are taken may not therefore the beams will have a high moisture content. You take an unnecessary and potentially expensive risk if you use timber described as 'air-dried' and assume you can simply 'acclimatise' it by leaving it on site for a few weeks.
